JACKSONVILLE — John Chandler, right, and Patsy Brown Dawson, center, from the Jacksonville “ Welcome Home Soldiers” Committe were the guests of Kiwanian Joan Malone at last Thursday’s luncheon held at Lupe’s Mexican Restaurant. Chandler, a veteran of the Navy and some thirty years in various law enforcement positions, discussed plans for the upcoming Seprember 18th parade to welcome local veterans of the Vietnam era. The Patriot Guard, a motorcycle group of Vietnam Veterans, who parade at some ceremonies and participate in funeral processsions honoring deceased veterans are expected to attend. Twenty two servicemen from Cherokee County lost their lives in Vietnam.
