JACKSONVILLE — Robert and Marjorie Smith of Jacksonville, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Aug. 25, 2010. Top, the couple pose for a photo in 1940. Bottom, Mayor Robert Haberle presents the Smiths with a proclamation from the city of Jacksonville recognizing the 70 years of their marriage. They were married in Elkhart, In., on Aug. 25, 1940. They moved to Jacksonville in 2001. An anniversary celebration given by their three daughters, Jann McGaughey of Jacksonville, Joan Carter of Raleigh, N.C., and Debbie Timmers of Midland, Mich., was held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010. They have seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
