Guests were Norma Daniel, Boots Burfoot and Lion Alicia Oliver.
A motion was made and passed to buy a Rusk Lions Club banner to use at all of our special events.
A motion was made and passed to use the $100 that we normally send to Boy Scouts of America for our local Cub Scout Pack.
A motion was recently passed to purchase two dozen pens for our Rusk Leo Club.
Lion Charlie Burfoot introduced our program speaker, Austin Rohr, who with his dad Tom Rohr, who now own the New A.C.E. Pawn Shop on Hwy. 69 South in Rusk.
Their phone no. is 903-683-4040 and their website is www.aceofpawn.com.
He spoke on the ways to pawn, buy or trade at their shop.
They purchased the shop from Tom Ball and stated that business had been very good.
Austin teaches classes on how to shoot pistols and rifles on Saturdays. They teach men and women classes and also sell ammo. They also loan money and rent DVDs. You can rent 4 DVD’s for $10.
They work very close with the police department. People often come to their shop looking for things that was stolen from a house, however Austin said they are constantly on the alert for stolen property and do not take it at their shop.
They hold items which they receive for at least 20 days. All equipment must be identified with serial numbers.
They have a 90 day lay-away-plan, no interest, & the customer pays 25 percent down, and $25 per month and at the end of 90 days the item becomes theirs.
They also sell snares to catch wild hogs, coyotes, etc. and the price is $4. They are also helping the Lions Club this year by selling us a Savage Edge 25.06 rifle for our yearly rifle raffle. They will also sell raffle tickets for a $1 donation to the Lion Club. The drawing will be Oct. 21.
The program was very interesting and we thank Austin for coming.
Please visit our Lions Club any Thursday at noon on Hwy. 84 W.
