Two Cherokee County adults have been arrested for their involvement in the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile, and Sheriff James Campbell said more arrests in the case are forthcoming.

Billy Brager, 57, of Jacksonville, and Alinda Bronson, 50, of Rusk, were arrested Dec. 10 and Dec. 9 respectively.

“They were arrested for the sexual assault of a juvenile, and it allegedly happened in Jacksonville,” Campbell said. “The investigation into the case is ongoing, and we do expect more arrests.”

Campbell said despite recent media reports, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has been selective about information divulged in the case because it is an ongoing investigation that involves a juvenile.

“We didn’t want any of the details released because we’re in the middle of this investigation,” he said. “All I am releasing is that the two individuals were arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile, and bonds were set.”

Brager’s bond was set at $25,000 and Bronson’s was set at $50,000.

Brager had been released on bond, but Bronson was still in jail Wednesday morning.

Both have been charged with sexual assault, which is a second-degree felony. If convicted, the pair each face state jail sentences of two to 20 years and up to a $10,000 fine.
