Jamming away: Edwinna Joslin, of Jacksonville, top photo, listens as Margie Adams of Rusk plays the gospel tune, “Deep Settled Peace,” on her melodica. The song was composed in 1928 by Kate Peters Sturgill, a Virginia ballad singer and songwriter of traditional mountain music. Center photo, Jacque Howell of Lake Palestine strums her dulcimer as husband Byron plays along on his dulci-banjo. Their twin daughters Mindy and Michelle also belong to the group. Mindy plays flute and penny whistle while her twin Michelle plays violin. Lynn Stanley, bottom photo, leads dulcimer players Edwinna Joslin and Gloria Welch of Tyler, right, during a Jacksonville Jammers session at the local senior center.
