JACKSONVILLE —
On July 13, 2011, Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Bass celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
The former JoAnn Austin, from Flint, Mich., met Bobby Bass at Jacksonville College. They wed in Truett Chapel, a mission church of First Baptist Church of Dallas.
Mr. Bass worked his 36-year career at Employer’s Ins. Dallas and they raised their family in Garland.
Their children include a son, Craig Bass of Dallas, and daughter and son-in-law, Rick and Dana Shelton of Cypress. They have three grandchildren, Derryck, Darryl and Samuel Shelton, and two great-grandchildren, Aiden Woodmore and Austin Russell, with another expected.
Upon retirement, they moved to Jacksonville, Dec. 24, 1992, and are active at First Baptist Church.

Curtis and Barbara Sockwell were married Aug. 5, 1961, in Jacksonville. They were high school sweethearts.

Rossers celebrate 60 years
John B. and Mary Rebecca (Becky) Duckworth Rosser recently celebrated 60 years of marriage with two receptions held in their honor. The first event was held at the River Club in Suwannee, Ga., hosted by their son, John Thomas Rosser. Family members and friends attended.

Chandlers celebrate 65 years together
Mr. and Mrs. Hank and Millie Chandler of Jacksonville celebrated their 65th anniversary on March 16, 2011.
The couple were married March 16, 1946, in Macon, Ga.
The has one child, Dr. L.D. Chandler and wife Laura, of Ft. Collins, Colo., and two grandchildren, Christopher and Jeff. -
Smiths mark 70 years together
Robert and Marjorie Smith of Jacksonville, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Aug. 25, 2010. They were married in Elkhart, In., on Aug. 25, 1940. They moved to Jacksonville in 2001. An anniversary celebration given by their three daughters, Jann McGaughey of Jacksonville, Joan Carter of Raleigh, N.C., and Debbie Timmers of Midland, Mich., was held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010. They have seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
